The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of patients registered with the surgery who have no medical training but have an interest in the services provided. The aim of the PPG is to represent patients’ views and cross barriers, embracing diversity and to work in partnership with the surgery to improve common understanding, make stronger the relationship between patients and their practice, which is critical to the provision of modern, high quality general practice.
Background to the PPG
The patient reference group was formed from an existing PPG and interested patients. Some patients were individually selected, every patient with a mobile telephone number was sent a text message and others become interested after reading a poster in the waiting room.
Patients who expressed views about the functioning of the surgery were particularly encouraged to join the group. We attempted to reach out to a wide range of patients to represent the Practice population.
